Spring is drawing near and so is the peak time to hike in the Phoenix Valley. Hiking is a great way to reduce stress and stay active and the views on these hikes are a big bonus. If you live in the valley, you don't have to travel far to find some amazing hikes. Here are some of my favorites!
South Mountain- Mormon Loop to Fat Man's Pass
Pima Canyon Trailhead, Hidden Valley Trail, Phoenix, AZ 85042
This hike is about 3.8 miles round trip. Many people stop at the end of the Mormon trail before passing through Fat Man's pass since the entrance to the pass is essentially two boulders. Don't make this mistake! The trailhead for Fat Man's pace begins near two boulders that form a narrow passageway in which you need to climb or "squeeze" (hence the name) to get to the other side of the pass. Be sure to take this route for a fun-packed hike with lots of climbing, jumping, and shimmying.
Camelback Mountain- Echo Canyon & Cholla Trail
6131 Phoenix, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253
Camelback mountain is one of Arizona's most popular mountains to hike. Camelback is also one of Phoenix's more difficult hikes. If you prefer a challenging hike but don't have several hours to spare, I recommend hiking the Cholla trail. This trail is shorter than Camelback's other trail, Echo Canyon trail and takes the average hiker about 2-3 hours to hike. This hike is also more gradual and less steep than the Cholla trail. But if you're looking for a good workout and have enough time, then I highly recommend the Echo Canyon trail!
Pinnacle Peak Park- Pinnacle Peak Trail
Pinnacle Peak Park, 26802 N 102nd Way, Scottsdale, AZ 85262
Pinnacle Peak trail is a moderate-level 4-mile hike with spectacular views and mini valleys. The trail is very well maintained and offers beautiful panoramic views. If you're experienced and have the proper equipment, you can even rock climb on this hike.
I want to hike with you!!
So many great hikes on this list!
